The Christmas harmattan

Image
Waking up early in the morning today reminds me of a remarkable story. Today the harmattan weather was a bit tense with dust , accompanied by a no where to hide cold. Even though one was covered with a blanket, this cold makes one feel as if the blanket was perforated. So i remember it was christmas. Long ago a child was born in a cold stable and he was placed in nothing but a manger. He is the prince of peace, an epitome of humbleness and a light to our dark hearts. This cold reminds me of the condition he was born in just to save you and me and today we celebrate his birth . MERRY CHRISTMAS!

A boy was born in a stable , placed in a manger in the little town of bethlehem. His birth was unique non like any other. But what is so special about this birth? You can't believe it, its the birth of the  heir of the  kingdom of God. A king in the making, an exalted prince!. But why would he come into this world in a conventional way? The only answer is love and humbleness. He took it upon himself to come into this world in a mortal form to help our helpless soul for the sake of his unconditional love for us! . We celebrate his birth, that is christmas!!

Life's Jigsaw Puzzle

Image
Life is like a jigsaw puzzle and you are uniquely  part of that puzzle. without you that puzzle will not be complete because you are an integral piece that must  be placed  in  that unique space to make the puzzle a whole. When God brought you to this world, he knows there is a space in life that can only be occupied by you, because he designed it specially for you. So whats next? Buckle Up! and try to fill that space, God has already given you the quality and necessary requirements, so what are you waiting for? Its in you. Don't look down on yourself and don't let others look down on you, the reason is because you are distinctivly unique and an important piece to life. Always remember that there is only one "you" in the world. That defines how special you are and you don't need  anyone to be special, the only thing you need is you.   It is good to admire someone's talent and potential but you don't need to compare yourself to that person because t...

A young ambitious poor African girl

Image
12 year old kwata was delighted when she sighted her mother coming from a distance, treading  on the dusty  meandered path that was surrounded by some dry Bermuda grasses of the savannah,  with few tamarin trees standing by the side like a lamp post.  As she was plodding up the narrow path and now getting closer to her abode, kwata sprints to meet her. Capturing the stiff look on her mother's face, she was sure that " Ndakwa " market didn't went well for her  because she knew mama always smiles if the market favoured her, even if she is exhausted from the two kilometre walk from  Ndakwa village market but her mood was entirely  different today. Kwata was now carrying a load on her head while smiling as they moved along  , knowing that she relieved mama of a little burden.  She effortly  peered at her mother and then  greeted her " welcome mama. How was the market today?" S he asked expecting a reply but mama was oblivio...

Lesson from old people

Image
The old man was mumbling some words to himself, while sitting on an old plastic chair under a Neem tree with his brown eyes staring at the birds chirping on the tree. With his few rusty teeth,  the old man broke a piece of kola nut and he began to chew it meticulously, enjoying it's slight bitter flavour. A breeze then blew, sending rustling dry leaves from  the tree to the ground but the old man couldn't help it but to enjoy the cool pleasant  sensation the breeze gave him but with its consequences, the birds that were entertaining him all flew away startled by the breeze and causing him to plunge himself into a daydream. While his mind was busy, he was suddenly stirred from his daydream by a coarse voice  saying "good evening baba", he then quickly turned towards the direction of the voice and his eyes saw a young man of medium height, wearing a red polo T-shirt with sun-glasses covering his eyes. The old man then responded saying "thank you my son, how ...

This area is surrounded by the vast Mandara Mountains which serves like a wall between them and Cameroon. They once lived on these Mountains and up to this day, many of the kamwe  people reside on these mountains. The kamwe people speak different  dialects and these dialects are up to twelve(12) in number and Each one of this dialects are slightly different and similar to some degree. The culture of the Kamwe people is vast, even though some of them are not practised today. Each  Kamwe dialect has its own based residence in Michika distinctively but the  metropolis  wh...

Threat Of An Oblivion Consignment

Image
In the past, people lived a simple life in Africa that comprises of different cultures, tradition and ethics that are antiquated to the lifestyle of the Africans today. Each African country comprises of different ethnic group with numerous culture. It is quite unfortunate that many of these long inherited cultures are fading into thin air, especially in my country Nigeria due to negligence. The widespread complacency towards  this fading heritage  fuels the surging  lack of interest in learning what is called our ethnic language especially among the youths and growing children. Every moment, it seems as if  we see the western language  and its culture as the ideal music to interact with the world of which importance is attached to, marginalising our own heritage. We are being taught at school, to learn how to speak the western language as well as how to read and write  but no one cares if we don't know how to speak our mother tongue as long as we can ...

A YOUNG GIRL WAS DECAPITATED BY A GRINDING MILL

About some weeks back, A young girl was killed by a grain grinding mill, in Michika local government area of Adamawa state in Nigeria. The incident took place in a market, from account given by people. The young girl whose age was unknown to me, was sent on an errand to the market.Being a muslim, she was known to have worn a hijab that very day. Unfortunately, When she was at a grinding mill, where loud rattling noise coming from  the working machine, made it difficult to hear. She was oblivious that the machines fast moving belt caught the edge of her hijab and as a result of that she was instantly drawn to the machine. With so much pressure on her neck, the machine decapitates her. The sight was gruesome. The owner of the mill who was unaware, got shocked and he fainted, when he saw the tragic scene. He was later taken to a Hospital and the mill was later closed. From the account given by people, the girls father did not take it heavy upon himself to see the incident as the faul...

THE BAD GUY NEEDS YOU

Image
I came to understand one thing in life. When you die, people will say good things about you, even though your attitude towards them can be unforgiving. When you are alive and living a life that breaks societal ethics, the reaction you will receive is reprimanding. Some group will insult you, another will advice you to change and some will regard you as the bad guy. And you might think "since i am the bad guy, then i will have to move with the bad guys". The reason for this thought has numerous cause but the major ones result from criticism and rejection by some people, because More people criticise than encourage and more people hate than love. There is a power in love that can change a person, it must not be only through prisons or jails. When you speak to a person from your heart , that person will know. It must not be once because it is a continuous process. No matter how bad a person is, he/she still respect someone. That someone might not be you but you still have a rol...

MY AFRICA

Image
Africa is a beautiful continent, talk of the animals, trees, people and different cultures, it just makes it so special. One of the notable things in Africa is their culture. Different people in different countries share different way of life. During the olden days before colonialism what the people respect more is their ethics and traditions. And anyone that does not follow this traditions can be severely punished at a point. The game hunt and cultivation of farmland has been the way families can feed themselves. The females are fond of gathering firewood and cooking while The males are always eager to impress them through wrestling contest, game hunt, popularity ETC. They are always trying to show their capacity to provide. The children will always dance and sing songs in the moonlight, wishing the merriment will continue forvever. But what happen to my Africa now? It seems like the life we left behind is antiquated. We no longer regard the old customs, yes we longer regard some of...

UNITY

Image
People are unique.Their unity gives them the power to do wonderful things together but when this unity is broken, the outcome always result to conflicts, wars and quarrels. When i see people sharing ideas, laughing and eating together, it gives me this sense of joy as if they should continue to live this way forever but because of our human nature, what i dreamt of has been a long awaited dream. The most important thing is that, no matter might come between us, we still share thesame flesh with blood flowing through our veins. This is our nature, let us not allow our selfish desires to rule our senses because when it does , it yields the root of conflicts and breaks off the wall of unity. We are one, lets live as one.
